  • writing in a tone of smug superiority isn't going to save anyone's life.
you do learn some very interesting words though.

  • BarryxBarry - where you from?

  • barry island?

  • did anyone mention the bagels?

  • barry's better buying bagels before bent bikes

  • The back of BLB always smells of baking. That's a good thing.

until your frame goes stale and snaps...

  • Hmmm. There's two legit stalls there, one's a guy who sells bike bits and bobs and often has good deals on tyres, the other is a chinese couple who sell salvaged old bits (some probably come from abandoned bikes, yeah) who I've seen turning down stuff from the local tealeaves. I buy old brake levers and similar stuff from them on occasion - was nice, for instance, to be able to pick up some serviceable old weinman levers for a fiver for my friends old sit-up-and-beg rather than 30 quid for overbuilt mtb levers from evans.

  • Ambala™ is a good reason to go to Brick Lane, especial now that were a week into Ramadan. The panner rolls are very tasty and go well with a cold bottle of Lech. All you beigel fans might want to try the onion platzels, the hole in the middle is bunged up with onion so whatever concocktion you have inside is prevented from escaping.

  • anyone know anything about the guy that sells bike locks, down cheshire street? I got a NY kryptonite for £30 from him, I could probably have haggled lower if I had tried.

  • Fuck the bagels. Sweet and Spicy is the place to go to. How can you argue against an establishment with wrestling posters on the wall?

  • Can't post a link yet as I'm on the iPhone, but the Indy magazine today has James Daley decrying the state of affairs at BL market. His mate spotted his own stolen bike, twatted the would-be vendor, and reclaimed his property...

  • Back in the day the lane was for proper traders normally people poor east londoners would find and repair stuff and sell it not stolen stuff. so dont generalise. i know cos i was there!

  • We're not debating social history here. It's more about where stolen bikes end up. I didn't diss your East End heritage any more than James Daley did
    :-(
EDIT: That was then - this is now.

  • Visited the area once a week for the last five weeks for meetings with W+K and it's quite possibly one of the scummiest areas I've been to. It's populated by druggies ordering cars around and generally shouting at people and Pete Doherty a likes. If you like Wembley, you'll like Brick Lane.

can you able to give us the link now?

  • Surely the houka lounge has been horrendously overlooked here??

What has that place done post smoking ban. I really liked it but assumed it was history the last few times i've been in the area and just not bothered visiting.

Hats. The undercover area of Blick Lane market is very good for gents hats!

    d:-)

"So to recap. Robert goes down to Hoxton Square to score some class A's. William and Freddy grow ironic thin moustaches. Ralph pops down to Brick Lane to buy some Fixed single speed slave Hip Lo Hop bike thingies, in bright neon stealth colours. We all rock up to the clients office, Then we present to Pampers our new campaign slogan...."Do a Skid"
