  • yeah,im a new cross resident!
I realise this thread is like a year or so old but I live in brockley/new cross too. its good to see some peeps from round here on the site. if I see your name on more recent posts i'll say hi. dont know much about computers but I'll have a look around to see if I find you/any other peeps from se4 for drinks/rides/parts swaps etc...

  • I stand corrected (I live in Brockley)
just had a quick look through this thread (not thoroughly), theres a few people from round here, is there anyone local might be able to help me out with my convertion (old BSA racer)? I got quite a few bikes, if someone helped me with my bike(s) I could sort them out a few bits (maybe a whole bike!)

I'd love to help, but alas, I am off to Oz tomorrow for about a month.
Head to south drinks tonight and introduce yourself - there's a big handsome devil with a massive beard. Buy him a drink and he'll point you in the right direction.

  • Well thanks for the tips. Turns out I'm a bigger eedjit than I thought. My Irn-Bru can shim didn't work either as the new bars just spin in the stem - new stem for me then! Also, my Dirt Harry break leaver doesn't really fit either - I'm off to an absolute flyer with this build my own fixed gear malarkey!

  • it's only a bike, most bike shops should be able to help you. try your local ones first

the thing is ive got some bits already,so im looking for a frame and a rear wheel, and my local shops dont build up fixies and dont have frames for them and i dont want a langster either

  • and i dont want a langster either

Good man! And welcome, with quotes like that you'll fit right in here ;)

  • Oops... I'm another lurker who's not posted on this one yet. Hello!!

I've been knocking around on my Raleigh Record Sprint conversion for a little over a year now, still got bit's to do, including possible new forks, and definite new wheel set.

  • Dude, Fiddy doesn't have a mate, Fiddy's got a motherfucking posse

this^ made me smile! Well said Sano.

I would be honoured to say I'm in Da Fiddy Posse. Him run ting.

  • wow popped in to bricklane cycles today, only took hour and half to get there, some great stuff there, just got to choose what to get,its got to be ideal for my longer winter rides so im goner stick with normal drop bars, but not sure what frame, quite like the bob jackson, goner have a little think about it

  • ^ You do that Tony, you do that.

  • I saw the one man band guy doing Hendrix, tres cool.

  • Hello to everyone. Been following some time now and just registered to the board. Hope I am not to much of a commuter / nonstyler for you guys, but we'll see.
To give you an idea: I ride a lemond fillmore with straight handlebars, on the SS side, powergrips on the pedals and a rear mudguard. Wear a fat helmet as well. Love it.

  • Christ, wait until everyone see's my bike..... the words "SLAUGHTER" and "LAMB" spring to mind

Seems like a pretty inclusive place whatever you ride, pal. What crotch chaffing creme do you use?

  • None... usually wearing cut off army style pants without a cushion underneath but recently started to wear my lycra top I bought for running as it's thermal and has long sleeves, and it gets a bit chilly in the mornings ... But I am not really a lycra lover. Also there is a hint of hipster in me. I brought back a white and blue chrome bag from SF when I went visiting ... does that make me a fakenger?

Did you buy it off this guy?

  • Hi everyone. Just wanted to say im new here, just raised enough cash to buy my first fixed gear/singlespeed frame, (i plan to have alternate rear wheels)
Just registered today after regularly reading the forum.
Me and a mate plan to unite some fixed riders in bristol and start a regular ride.

    cheers.

  • welcome blankface.... I skate quite a bit in Bristol, a few of the guys I skate with have just got themselves bikes too. I reckon you'll have plenty of company.

  • is anyone riding in the sussex area, why is it so hard to choose such a simple bike,

  • this^ made me smile! Well said Sano.
