that's capitalism. it's been around for a while, i think it's here to stay.
as a consumer you have a choice. you can opt out and not buy these ostentatious frivolous baubles.
as for being moral and ethical i think most people are only moral and ethical where and when it suits them (not a personal dig at you roxy)
