Fixed Gear Bike Build Progress...

I'd be keen to see what you lot think on my bike build so far. I have some vintage Sugino cranks coming soon from an Ebay purchase so I'm not far off getting out for my first ride... I can't wait.

I think the bike is lovely, bit verbose on the description and design rational though.

i used to have an old clockwork, that i got a local builder to put horizontal drop-outs on. then also sprayed it white. it was a nice bike.

My favourite comment on that blog is this:

I think at first glance people will think that the bike actually has a track frame. Given the large frame size of the Orange, the tope tube actually sits at a similar angle to that of an average track bike. The only thing that will give it away is the classic Orange rear triangle that has the U-shape rear stays.
I very much doubt that anyone would assume it was a track frame.

Sorry dude, I love mountain bike conversions but seriously my comments stand. It will never look like a track bike so why try to make it look like one?

Be proud of your fixed mountain bike. And get some 32s on those wheels and drag the bitch off road.

I agree, it was comment made early on in research. I knew nothing about track and racing bikes before starting this. It was the wrong choice of words. I was more referring to the geometry of the top tube being flat and although a wider frame it would work well for road riding. I have a mountain bike for off road and won't look to do anything more than hack to work on this.

Fair play. To be honest provided you love riding it that's all that matters.

Well the dropout conversion is going to give that bike a whole new lease of life, cool.
