  • is that pasties or pastis?

  • anyone got a phone number for this place?

  • Made the pilgrimage from Brixton yesterday... Brilliant little shop, Rob's a lovely fella and he's got some lovely old road bikes in there... 50s Rory O'Brien track frame and forks on the wall for those with deep pockets... Very highly recommended for all you easties, and everyone else for that matter... Wish we had a place like Rob's down south... Didn't get his number tho', which was silly...

  • Yeah, really nice little shop. A couple of lovely geared (sorry) bikes - a copper-coloured Wilier Triestina with vintage Campy gearset and Mavic wheels, a Harry Quinn in the window and a newly-arrived Colnago Master that Rob said he hadn't decided whether to do a full resto on yet. (Sorry for the shitty iPhone pictures. And the gears.)

And a cat. I love shops that have a cat.

  • and a can of effes on the go good man

  • they got any raliegh activators in stock?

  • just got back from this place. it's ace. lemme say that again. IT'S ACE! rob, the guy who runs it, is amazingly friendly and nice. and he has the best stock of bike porn in the city. i sat and looked through a 1974 campagnolo parts catalogue for about half an hour. he's a total fanatic, knows his shit, and is a super nice guy. details:

    Rob's Bike Shop
    74 Mountgrove Rod
    London N5 2LT

please give him tons of business. he deserves it.

  • I ride past this place on my way to work every day. Each time I see the Harry Quinn in the window, I dribble a little bit.

  • where is montgrove road? doesn't pop up on google maps-is it a spelling mistake

near finsbury park off blackstock road

  • Crane, I was just posting in an old thread. Rob's shop was new last summer. Hackney LCC first saw it back in June on the Hackney 'Bike the Bounds' ride, and you're answering questions that have already been answered. ;)

BTW, it is in LB Hackney--right on the borough boundary, which runs along Mountgrove Road. You would of course be right (if that's what you meant) that it's neither in the non-administrative area known as Hackney, nor in the old London Metropolitan Borough of Hackney (in LMB Stoke Newington instead).

  • This thread deserves a bump, too, because of Winston's lovely photos.

http://www.sargentandco.com/ is the shop's web-site now. All details there.

  • Yep. Nice work, website, shop, all of it. Pricing seems fairly realistic.
I'm worried that i can't see an alarm or shutters on the shop front though.

They would detract from the elegance of the shopfront.
