I have one on one of my bikes and there seems to be a bit of forward/backwards play too. I guess eventually this is going to wear down the carrier, which will then be a bugger to get off. I think it's a design thing rather than a installation issue though.
the sprockets are quick to change, just the carrier for them that's a bugger.
