  • sanded the decals off my flyer last weekend. they're under a clearcoat as mentioned above and by the time i'd got them all off i'd gone though to bare steel in a couple of places.

i'm going to respray it soon (have the stuff all ready to go but am waiting for a dry weekend). so my question is this: at present i'm down to uncoated paint/undercoat with a couple of small bare steel patches but there's still clearcoat in a few hard-to-reach spots. so should i:

a - use paint stripper on the thing to get the whole frame down to bare steel and start from scratch with primer, several layers of paint and clearcoat etc

    or

b - try and get all existing clearcoat off with wet and dry and leave as much original paint as possible for a base-coat.

    or

c - bodge option. just paint over the existing paint and undercoat bare and clearcoated patches and all.

i guess i'm leaning towards option b because i'm wondering if the paint would adhere better to the lower layers of the original paint better than it would to bare steel?

    thoughts?
