to save a little bit of weight? beside forcing myself to learn how to skid, slowly making my bike a little bit lighter, even my a tiny margin helped.
200 grams?
That will help you on the Alp 'd Clerkenwell.

Last week when cutting across traffic in Berlin my 1/8 chain snapped, an unlikely scenariobut i it put me in a precarious spot. I put on a front break upon returning home.

Brakeless might look nicer, but all things considered you are likely to be slower.

Belt and Braces Charco. Belt and braces.
There are three ways i can think off to slow yourself. feet to the floor, hand on the front wheel and foot on the back wheel. the forth is the Gabes flying super starfish tarmac mashing manuva.
The reaction time to get your foot on the back wheel or hand on the front is going to be sharp. and for it to be instinctive is only going to come with bruises, scars and time!

I though the conversation was about brakeless v brakes - if it is, then brakeless tends to be ridden slower - due to a few factors.
If the conversation is about gear ratios, which I suspect it is not, then I take your comment as a contribution.

Very good hair based point.

Be keeping them for now then
being able to perform a skid isn't a good indication of whether you should or could ride brakeless.
why not try riding on your current bike but without ever using the brake?
