  • Okay not the best of gear but very much cheapness.

    http://www.lidl.co.uk/uk/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20080821.index.ar11

  • oh yeah, I gotta get me one of these

    £4.99!

  • Top Lock, made of cold forged hardened plastic. Only 1 cm thick for weight saving.

  • buy 10 of those LIDL ones for the price of one of these.. http://www.bike-shed.com/products.php?plid=m2b56s94p2347

despite their crappiness, could 10 of them deter a thief?

    No.

    • you'll have to carry 10 locks.
  • joke

  • Ahh, i see. Very good.

Ha! and 10 identical keys, so you wouldnt be alble to work out which key fitted which lock. Not that this would matter because every key would open every lock anyway.

  • Getafix, do you work for Lidl or something?

  • Ahh, i see. Very good.

yeah, just thinking out loud.. My brother's standard joke about bike theft in london is that I should buy 10 bikes for £10 instead of 1 for £100

^^if you do, we need to hook you up with Pajamas, he's a manager at Asda.

    PAJAMAS!

  • I bought the gloves a long time ago and they felt pretty good and lasted well enough. As for the multi-tool. Well, it still works just fine 4 years on, just like the tool kit. It all looks a bit rubbish but I only bought them for the functionality. I saved a chunk of cash and am quite happy with the results.

  • I bought 4 of their short sleeved jerseys earlier this year for £3 each. Lasting well.

  • Everything cycling I've bought from Lidl has been perfectly serviceable and long-lasting.....people who believe in brand names and the "you get what you pay for" mantra are fools....it's probably all made in the same chinese factory, with the same materials as other "reliable" brands......

it's true, i did say this somewhere a few weeks ago - some story about a girl taking all her clothes off in Wal-Mart.

But..er.. not everything I post is real I'm afraid...

I would continue the joke but people have started to ask for stuff past its sell-by date and the like, it's become a bit of an albatross.

I did have a knee-trembler with the bird who pats her back pocket at the end of the ads though. Strange girl: she wanted me to smack the same bottom cheek as the one featured in the ads - considerably harder than she pats it for the camera, but to the same rhythm, while we both whistled the Asda theme.

I'm a Tesco man these days.

^ I read this^ and then ordered this black merino wool jersey:

    very much in agreement.

All top notch stuff, the motorbike thermals earlier this year in both lidl & aldi were amazing, full compression.

The saddle tool bags they pop out at £2.99 which contains a high quality multi-allen key tool (lasted me 3 years so far) AND a chain tool.

    Who can match that?

I must admit, the first time they got in the track pumps the manufacturer got the internals of the pump wrong. They just didnt work, but of course LIDL would happily give you a refund (up to 3 years down the line) But I just stuck a tap washer in and it was great, went up to 160psi easy.

Ive seen the same pump relabelled by 'real' bike brand for 3-4 times the cost.

  • I don't work for Lidl, the pump recommendation was a bit of a joke, although my track pump is out of Aldi and works fine. The cycling shorts and trousers out of Lidl are ok but the Aldi ones are great, I don't work for Aldi either. I'm going to Lidl tonight on my way home to pick up a few pairs of those £2 track mits.

the mitts arent great, a bit "foamy" still good for £2 though.

  • Bought the track pump. (£5)
    Gets up to 110psi

  • 110 isn't any good though right? 120 all thw way.

Yeah, I didn't bother getting any, not upto Aldi standards. Aldi are getting in stuff on the 18th http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/offers_week38thursday08.htm?WT.z_src=main

  • looks good. Could run a few small free parties with this.

Tested limits and got it up to 130+
