and relax...
Mr Grooves, you are attempting to step into the mind of the bus driver!?! you have no idea what was going through his head. noisy passenger, car coming over his right shoulder, that parked car, the cyclist.
Agreed the bus driver was a cock, showed really bad judgment, but like everyone else on the road this fella had 100 things going through his mind and a situation to deal with. he didn't intend it.Fact remains as cyclists our mistakes are more costly.
To be fair this is an everyday situation, and throwing sticks at the bus driver is great but will it stop it happening again? You got to ride that aggressive/defensive lineNO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Firstly, I'll leave the relax to FRANKIE goes2 bollywood (or where ever the fuck he went.)
If you, as the pilot of an aeroplane are not fit to fly it due to, say, alcohol in your system you are IMMEDIATELY placed under arrest.
If you're mentally not up to it then you ARE NOT PERMITTED TO FLY IT.
(google the recent co pilot that had a break down before take off)Surely the whole point of a successful public transport system is to HAVE PASSENGERS!!!! (Unless of course that is, if he only stops at the bus stops for dumb [silent not stupid] passengers who do not make any noise and mess with his concentration).
NB He is a trained bus driverIf he has already navigated his way out of the bus lane what the fuck has he got to concentrate on apart from driving forward!?!?! Its not as if there are cars/truck/hgv's to navigate with to get back into the bus lane.
Here's the bit that sticks in my throat:
99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% I see bus drivers giving way to fellow bus drivers about to get stuck in a blocked cycle lane.In this situation he wouldn't even have had to have stopped, just move over a little.
WHAT KIND OF A FUCKING DOSILE CUNT DOESN'T TRY TO PUT THEMSELVES INTO THE SHOES OF THE OTHER IN/DURING/AFTER THE EVENT OF CONFRONTATION?
I'm merely trying to apply logic and get a much more rounded point of view- AM I THE IDIOT? From what I can see the only things on the mind the driver were:- a) nothing to do with driving the bus or
- b) just PURE AND SIMPLE SELLFISHNESS.
Would you say the same if our rider had been smashed in the rear window of a parked car? ending in severed arteries in his head/neck/chest arms? if it were us, LFGSS that had to do the slow singing and flower bringing all dressed in black?
How about if your loved one had swiped their oyster and was a passenger on the bus with a driver who was known not to be mentally up to it and decided to crash the bus?
Im getting really pissed off with all of this, so no fucking jokes my fucking way.
- a) nothing to do with driving the bus or

Multi Grooves = Angry Grooves !
I only ever pass a bus if I can move right over to the middle of the right hand lane,
I just dont trust bus drivers. It seems a little extreme that this particular one didnt even react to nosferatu being IN FRONT though.

• #31
I could understand it if nosferatu had been behind the bus - he wouldn't have appeared in the mirrors.

Grooves there is a world of difference between flying a plane and driving a London bus.
Bus drivers make around £500 a week and TFL advertise with the comment "anyone with a full driving license can make a great bus driver" - pilots don't have to deal with cyclist...My point is you can't put yourself in the drivers shoes, the same way the next bus driver who takes an offensive line against you in the next 48hrs can't possibly get in your head.. fuck if he could he'd fking hide!
We share the road in town with a fair % of people not fit to be on the road. that will always be the case
I don't have any time for bus drivers and i don't care for them. just as i don't care for the Previas tagged with the blue sticker of death, hive vans with drivers who have no concept of the vehicles width, white vans... and Taxis during rush hour always forcing a space.
If you think like these lot will do something stupid you will one day be sadly proved right. so ride accordingly
The only reason to go on the attach is when this is done with intent. Like with Minh a. this driver is trying to do his job. Shit i know Drs who have bad days and they have life's in their hands?

Doesn't anyone find it strange that a bus driver continued his shift right after being involved in an accident???
I think we're missing the end of your story Nosferatu. It is really unclear. -
• #36
eh? continued to shift right? once he hit me he kinda went thro me an wen i was on the floor my bike was like jus infront of his front wheel but under the bus kinda, like where the front doors are exactly, so my bike was kinda under the bus, and when i like started shouting(impusle reaction) he moved the bus slightly forward not to the right or to the left or anything jus a lil an i was like shit hes gna go over my back wheel, well thats what i thought but he kinda stopped straight away before he got into gear or watever. he then opeend his doors an was like u alright? n all i remember was shoutin u cud have killd me an sum women tellin me not to move cause she thought i must have broken summin.
-
• #37
VeeVee - it sounds like he took his line pulling out from behind the car, accelerated and reacted slow when Nos moved into his blind spot
-
• #38
I thnk that Vee Vee means carried on working, to complete his shift?
-
• #39
+1 to reporting this - if not the guy will not the driver won't learn from his mistake.
-
• #40
yea im jus happy i didnt get hurt that bad, telling my mum a bus hit me she thought i was at least paralysed...
and as much as a fault it was of mine or the bus's i always keep an eye out cause it dnt matter whos fault it is if i die, id rather be alive and cautious.Lesson: never, EVER tell your mother you got hit by a bus. Say you had an accident, then slip in the size of what hit you. Otherwise your mother may burst into tears! I know from experience.

Er, yes, actually.
First rule of
cyclingdrivingbeing alive: assume everyone else is a docile prick who is operating on autopilot while giving/receiving felatio. The bus driver was at fault, and is a fool, but to expect that he is giving a nanosecond's thought to you is fool-hardy.
You might be trying to get into his shoes, but he ain't going anywhere fucking near yours. Yes he really should, and if all bus drivers were forced to ride a bike before being allowed onto the road it'd probably make a difference, but they aren't.

My anger comes from: the increasing frequency of stories like these on our forum, also from personal experience with idiots on the road.
I can't knock off the cost of policing from my council tax bill but the utter contempt of the police towards those that pay pay their wages just drives my rage up (to 11!)Grooves there is a world of difference between flying a plane and driving a London bus.
Bus drivers make around £500 a week and TFL advertise with the comment "anyone with a full driving license can make a great bus driver" - pilots don't have to deal with cyclist...Partial agreement. You pays your money and place you safety in the hands of the bloke/lass in the driver seat. I didn't force anyone to take the job on knowing it pays a measly monkey per week. To some degree I do give a shit about the welfare of drivers. Unlike the world of automobiles with its advances in car safety DARWINISM works on cyclists. But there seems to be an increase in the incidence of fucktards getting behind the wheel pulling off ever brazen moves.
My point is you can't put yourself in the drivers shoes, the same way the next bus driver who takes an offensive line against you in the next 48hrs can't possibly get in your head.. fuck if he could he'd fking hide!
I'm not on about giving him a tarrot reading or being his quack- just totally selfish and dangerous driving.
We share the road in town with a fair % of people not fit to be on the road. that will always be the case
Indeed!

partial agreement.
I see too many bus drivers that go all out to give way to fellow bus drivers in blocked bus lanes so I see this type of move at best, as cynical at worse: down right selfish, dangerous and cynical.Whilst you can't legislate for what other road users are going to do, are you telling me that if/when you're in a bus lane and see a blockage you brake to a halt then dismount despite the bus being behind you? Though I really want to know MORE details of this incident, my sentiment remains.
You can not over estimate the importance of eye contact or outright signaling- assumption is the mother of all 73's all over your langster! Also it doesn't hurt to acknowledge/thank other road users that give us way or do the right/nice thing ny us. -

There's a lots of bus drivers that are considerated, and well aware of the surrounding, that can drive sensibly and carefully, even with 30 years of driving down his/her belt.
It a bit of a codswallop to have an excuse of the bus drivers facing hundred of bad driving, abused, drunk passenger, etc. everyday to drive badly.
It's all good man. this little knock is one step towards you path to the London Fixed Sense Force.. all road traffic has an energy, an energy that binds all together.. a collective conscience and intelligence. understanding this sense can enhance natural physical and mental abilities..
