dunno, quite baffling. my current thoughts are that the clearence between the wheel and down tube was slim anyway, about 5-6mm, so maybe the headset had worked itself a little loose, and under the stress of sharp braking, the wheel could have actually touched the down tube, propelling the whole bike and myself tarmacwards.
but still to bend the whole front end of the frame just through braking stress is just wierd.
