  • just missed the team pursuit listening to whinges about mince pies!

  • made me smile though

  • just missed the team pursuit listening to whinges about mince pies!

    That makes two of us!

  • .

  • good work!

  • didn't sound as thought it was produced with any passion. Missed most of the Team pursuit!

  • Ah ha! We rise over the Aussies again!

  • Half way through the replay now, and I keep smiling with empathy: the beauty of Waterloo Bridge, misted glasses, drunken cycling, the march of the penguins, the magnolia tree behind Holborn…

And you all come across absolutely wonderfully: perceptive, smart, and generally cracking folk.

When I grow up, can I be just like you?

  • Radio 4 dj: "Very ingenious - you turn your legs and it makes the... what did you call it?"
    messenger: "wheel?"
dj: "...'Wheel' turn, propelling you forwards! The wonders of modern technology!"
    ]

it really such a shame I can't listen to the radio, it sound rather interesting (yes I'm aware the above quote is a joke).

  • Interesting comments; thanks for the flattering ones.
The producer Katie was not lacking in passion; I liked her a lot even though the end product disappointed me a bit. Though compared with the usual bollocks that gets written about my job I think she did well. And Bill has not been to University which is all too obvious if you've ever seen him trying to get to grips with a fish knife.

  • just heard bill.

    they all been to uni....

The closest I have been to attending university is using the Senate House as a short cut.

I did go to a grammar school, though.

FWIW, I thought it was a pretty fair representation. Although it did the false impression that most messengers do alleycats, but hey!

  • A good programme I thought - though the music was hilarious - it's like they needed to keep reminding us that it was still radio 4 and not an exciting new youth video or something!

  • Will, did you openly admit to jumping a red light?? tut tut.. :)

I agree with some of the comments above, I closed my eyes and listened away but was expecting to to see visuals as well as voice, very captivating though.... certainly more intersting then watching rubbish on tv... well done bill, will and others :)

  • One thing though... I'm only 10 minutes in but why have they used a pic of a motorcycle courier for the ident? Hang on, they all say doco of 2 of londons 400 motorcycle couriers....... oooer

"Documentary following the lives of two of London's 400 motorcycle couriers, whose working day is spent delivering packages across the city. The job is badly paid and the risk of serious injury is relatively high, yet there is a thriving sub-culture of people who have chosen the freedom of the road above the security of the office."

  • Doesn't 'courierier types' who also apparantly race alley cats mean fakengers?

  • I enjoyed listening to that.

A fair representation & I the hatred of riding in the rain that grew inside me like a phantom pregnancy hasn't diminished four years after stopping my job as a courier.

  • Bill has not been to University which is all too obvious if you've ever seen him trying to get to grips with a fish knife.

    post of the day.

don't care what anyone else says

  • I genuinely think nhatt is the coolest person i've met this past year.
every time i speak to her i'm genuinely in awe.
    good doc.

  • You mean you fancy her? When are you going to make your move?

  • You mean you fancy her?

    who doesn't?

  • post of the day.

don't care what anyone else says

i don't imagine anyone else will say anything mate...do you imagine we all spend the day arguing about the best post?

  • who doesn't?
