  • Vinz, truth be told, it doesn't matter (with obvious extremes taken into account). Hackney/east is no worse than anywhere else in London.

    The thing about moving to London in general is that you have to be willing to deal with a higher chance of being a victim of crime. It's still only a chance, and this is true of anywhere.

    I've lived in brixton for a year, without trouble, but my flatmate has been mugged twice right outside my front door. He walks around in 3-piece suits (actually, his most recent fashion has been wearing boxer shorts AS SHORTS) and perpetually wears a boater, so go figure.

    What area of hackney is this room located? that's the most important question, really.

    In terms of price, south london is cheaper than north. If you're willing to make the commute, brockley/lewisham area is really nice, and so is camberwell. From where I am it's fairly quick (15 mins if not less) to get to the west end.
