as i understand it they are quite rare and collectable. PJ has them on his new build.

lovely hubs
the ones in the pic are not track / fixed hubs though....sure you knew that.
-
• #4
yeah, mine are fixed/fixed think they should polish up good and will be a nice pair to the atlanta rims
:D

I personally really like them but I didn't think they were all that rare?? Nice hubs tho, and they look SMASHIN hot when they're polished.
-
• #6
not rare, but if they are in good condition still fetch good money. they are suited to a vintage build and wouldn't suit atlanta rims. IMHO get some nice phils or strip/polish some goldtecs to a mirror finish

there are a few going on ebay ATM. I just got this (not Airlite) 100mm flange dia.
gonna shiney it ooop

• #9
Just mind they don't fall apart, eh dogs?
-
• #10
yeah - lovely hubs. i think the one i sheared off completely was a resilion or something.
the only issue i can think of is that these hubs tend to be pressed, not welded, where the axle meets the flange. in my limited experience this can lead to catastrophic failure when the pressing slips. this may have happened because i'm a skid-happy torque monster and the hub was 50 years old.
basically though, sweet as...

Oh shit, I've just removed a 50 year old one from its original wheel, wanna refurb it and give it a new rim etc, hope it doesn't kill me in a few weeks!

I just got some built up to silver ambrosio excellights, looking sexy as! Got them sat under my new build at the moment and are looking the part.
At the shop I got them built at, all the old roadies were loving them, they said anyone that was anyone ran them back in the day, the rest would lust after them.

Anyone know what cog to put on an Airlite? I just tried with one and the threading is obviously
different as it binds.Any help please! Looking for a 18-19t.
-
• #24
If it's binding it's probably cross threaded, i'm afraid to say.
-
• #25
Tried 2 different cogs and neither would screw on properly. Plus it's fixed/fixed
so tried both sides. Definately not threaded as I have a cog on there already.More help please!
not dis-similar to these... worth refurbing?
