I got confused thinking it was the Bob Jackson seller and absently mindedly mailed this:
Dear sir,
please could you tell me if the frame would be suitable for alpine riding? I live in the fairly mountainous region of North London and so require a lightweight climbing steed. Do you have the weight of the bike? Would it be possible for you to weigh the bike and then add on the weight of some other component's (like wheels seatpost and handle bars ) so I could better work out if it will be light enough for the challanging conditions here. How many bottle cage lugs does the frame have and can you mount gears to it?
Many Thanks, J
To which I got this reply:
I would estimate it to weigh in the vicinity of 8 kg fully mounted ready to ride away. the single speeds climbing ability woukld depend on the amount of teeth on the chain ring & on the cogs that you choose. the ratio so to speak. & of course the strength in your legs & how powerful you are. If you are not into self torture & mutilation you might be better of finding a suitable road bike with 12 gears rather than a single speed bike.
track bikes are a "state of mind". i love them. you might do alright in North London but you would have to be geared correctly & of course stopping is the other thing you have to consider. it is life threatening if you are not experienced with brakeless single speed bikes out on the public roads.
No lugs on this frame, no gears.
think realistically on what is suitable for you.
best of luck,
