Anyone know about Colnago Oval/Aero CX pursuit

  • Does anyone know anything about the Colnago Oval CX pursuit frames? I have just brought one off t'ebay. Tony Rominiger rode one for his hour record in 1994, but that is as much as I know. Any info would be gladly received.

  • This one?

  • Yep, thats the one.

  • velly nice

    profound and enlightening, nimhbus :-)

  • Ah so you were the one that sent the bidding crazy from 180 to nearly double in the last hour...good old ebay!

  • Nope that wasn't me. I Auction Sniped it......

Whats the deal with sniping? Do you use a third party for bidding?

  • Well going a bit off topic here, and no doubt we will end up sniping the same thing. But, in the spirit of fraternal fixed gearness, it is feckin crazy to bid directly on ebay - all you are doing is adding to the auction fever and driving the price up. Use auctionsniper.com, it allows you to set up an automated bid that will only be placed a few seconds before the auction closes. That way you stick to your maximum bid, and you don't let other people know you ebay-ish intentions.

pff. that stuff is soo five years ago.

these days people just put in their bid in a relaxed fashion, a few days before it ends, and they wait to see what happens.

  • Ahh, the old ways are best in the end.

Thats pretty much what I do any way. If there is something I want then I watch it till the last 10 seconds and make my one and only bid if I dont get it then so be it. The only benefit of the sniper then is if you cannot phsically bid yourself, say your out or whatever.

  • Yup good for some stuff I didn't bid on the bike in the end because of the price it got to in the last five minutes...would have maybe paid around £250-£300 but knew there would be a lot of interest. Looks to be a great bike anyway!

  • I know one thing about that frame; you outbid one of my best friends at work, a God-like courier from the Czech republic, for it and I had to comfort him on Monday morning.
Oh, I know another thing; it was the EPO and not the frame that got Rominger the record.

  • Yes, you are so right there. All those 90s records look distinctly iffy these days.

Sorry about you mate, but all is fair in love and ebay.

  • nice looking frame with the right bits. needs some campag shamal tracks wheels

  • Are you offering?

  • nope, just suggesting...

i have some atlanta wheels but think i will keep them am afraid... you should try and source some defo.
