Pearson cycles have an FSA chainset that includes chainring and bottom bracket for £39.95.
Dogsballs hates it, but there is no denying that it is cheap as the proverbial Jockeys whips.
Seems good quality to me at the moment- choice of 165/170/175mm.

get a strada or similar with 44t ring on ebay. i picked up a strada road double, 170mm cranks, 44+53t, for £28. going to use the 44t, nice gear with a 15t on the back.
or buy the new, but seriously uggers FSA. i know, i put one on a build for a friend.

Uggers 'tis true.
Works though, whilst one combs eBay for something nicer.

the FSA one is okay for the price. looks better if you swap out the chainring for silver. having said that i only have one on my polo bike.

I'm planning on using my Dremel to reshape them- voila! Instant Sug 75's.

just got myself an old dura ace chainset (road), for £25.

only problem being that is looks like I'll need a 68x103 BB, and shimano no longer seem to make such a thing.

I beleive sugino do.

is mixing sugino + shimano OK? no problems like with campagnolo and shimano? chainline will still be out a few mm, but I can always upgrade later, or use spacers on the crank bolts.
After a chainset, ideally a Sugino RD (or similar) but due to a very tight budget I can't afford new.
Max £45, including chainrings and postage (unfortunately I'm not in London).
Last resort before looking for a Shimano 600 chainset on eBay.
