what about a cull of members that have joined but not posted in the last 6 months?
I agree we've all been guilty of disemboweling a first poster, usually we regret it afterwards, but that doesn't mean we should stop new members joining - or posting obvious questions. As far as I'm concerned, they should lurk for a while to learn the ettiquette. Any first poster gets one patient response to a question that has been answered already and they could have searched for. Then they get a direct response: "use the search". After that it's open season.
