Wanted: Your Old Shoes Part 3

Posted on
  • Looking for junked-up old cycle shoes UK 9-10 (MTB or leisure type) that are on the cusp of being chucked out or are laying at the bottom of your shoe rack unneeded.

Have to make myself another pair of conversions.

Will swap for a six pack or beer money.

  • will havea look MA3k, not sure if i have any mtb ones but may have some old nike dunks or some DC's ill pm ya if i have some.

  • MA3k, how easy is to do the all thing? I tempted to do same

  • These might be a bit flexy? Still interested?

  • rik it is piss-easy, you just need the hard plastic insole from a pair of cycling shoes. You could custom make a plate I guess but I think it is better to use an insole as it preforms more like a cycle shoe on the inside, and is casual on the out.

I only need old cycling shoes mate, I have got a couple of unused skate shoes lying around. Thanks though.

  • ^^ I would take them but they look burnt.

  • did you ever take photos and document the process like was suggested by someone? i'd be interested to know how if you did...

  • I've got the plates that came with my spd cleats lying around somewhere - they came with a little diagram for fitting into the sole of shoes which sounds pretty much like what you're trying to do.

Yours gratis if you want them and I can find them in my bike bits box.

  • I need the hard plastic (full)insoles, if you just attach the cleat with those little metal plates it will rip out the bottom of your shoe.

Yeah I did but in a fit of high dudgeon I deleted them and emptied the bin.

  • fair enough!

  • Check these out think they will do the job for you without any of the hard graft if you can find them that is....

  • I would rather make my own than pay to look a circus clown.

  • I think I have a nigh dead pair of Shimanos but will have to check when I get to my other house next weekend.

I tend to make the soles a bit on the flexy side due to persistently walking on them and hauling around the Peak District. Will that be OK?

  • That would be great.

  • Right ho. Have set reminder on phone for Friday. PM me if you get lucky before then.

  • Just got back to the office after a week away and hurrah the shoes had been placed on my desk.

Thank you very much for that seldom.

  • can you photograph how you do this, please?

  • If I remember sure. Might get carried away sniffing the epoxy.

  • You're welcome my good man. Hope they fit the bill.
