Did you file/drill them in the end? All work out ok?

The headtube is about 14cm - so add about another 35mm or so for headset and anything over about 18cm would be fine (I'll cut it/get it cut) ......if my idea of how it all goes together is right??
cheers

I have a threaded 1' chrome fork
I'll measure it up tomorrow (not at home)
probably need about £25 for it though -
• #11
if you end up with 2 forks, I'll be more than happy to buy one.

Sorry I forgot to say.
Basically my LBS took a small drill to it (I think) as they were also fitting the headset cups and cutting the steerer anyway.
I suppose a bit of time filing could have done it, but I'm a lazy cunt.

If there are any chrome forks with 200mm + steerer floating out there, I'd be happy to take them off your hands... after Steves & Johan of course.

I've now got some.....just need a 1" die to cut an extra 1/2" or so of thread down the steerer....

• #15
Probably a dumb ass question but i'll ask anyway because i'm a dumb ass, are all forks the same length, i have a 21inch frame which is smaller than most peoples, i'd hate to buy forks and fit them and find i was doing a wheelie.

Well, you can get those for 650 and 700C wheels.

I've got a pair of unthreaded 20cm-ish 1" chrome forks with a groovy retro 501 sticker. Swap for threaded 23.5cm or thereabouts, any takers?
