Band on shifters... there are various guides and cable stops on it: the front mech arrangement is made to have a short stainless cable between the DT and ST, rather than a BB guide.
Thanks for your concern!

I hear he's a built a lovely new bike the same day the mercian went wobbly

But a new bike doesn't stop you hurting when an older much loved bike dies.
At least Mercian are able to to ressurect her like a pheonix from ashes. -

Stupid of me to ask really - Mercian don't forget stuff like that.
I picked up my Holdsworth from Mercian earlier in the week and have pretty much finished building it up now. Gears still need some fettling, chain needs shortening and the cables need to be cut, but I'm so chuffed with it it's untrue. Gunmetal grey frame, red headtube, all set off really nicely by the Khamsin wheels with the red and black Schwalbe Stelvio/Blizzard Sport tyres, red bar tape and red Look A5.1 pedals.
All I need now is a new front mech - have a Miche on there at the moment, but it's old and stiff - could really do with a band-on Campag Veloce if anyone has one?

I've got a 32mm band-on Centaur 9/10spd front mech, but it was the triple version. Not sure if it will shift efficiently with a double.
If someone can confirm compatibility, and you want it, it's yours.
Very nice, me likey very muchly... Gonna start saving the sheckles and get mine done at Mercian soon, headtube contrast, barbers pole, lug lined, the full fucking monty...
So, was it not a Mercian originally then?
