How safe is Camden?

I had the unfortunate opportunity to be in Camden last Friday night to catch the tube. All I saw were scumbags, AIDS victims, kids looking like the geeky stud on Skins, and a bunch 'yeah, cool, london look' types. I much prefer the mandems banging it out in Sarf

Went to a Burlesque and Ska night (I kid you not!) in the Macbeth last time I was in London Village. Top night!

so i ended up taking my bike. and its still alive and in one piece, quite pleased with that.

I've successfully locked my bike up outside the Odeon several times. I've locked it across the street outside the fish restaurant-thingie where the bin bags makes it impossible to stand around long enough to actually force a lock.
