To be fair BMX freehubs are also pretty outdated as pretty much all hubs made in the last three years have used internal drivers (Which go down to eight teeth) can't recommend anytthing less than 10 though as the pressure exerted on the teeth is phenomenal. Bear in mind that at most you only ever have half the teeth in contact with the chain, so what would usually be spread over say 8 teeth is reduced to 4. That's a shit load of newtons right there.
