you answered your own question. blb sell them, but get ready to be reamed.
-

How badly reamed?
I have a pug with it's original seatpost but you can (without a microadjust clamp) have either "anal doom" or "never breed" saddle angles... -

The decathalon post comes with a couple of shims. I ended up chopping one in half and muscling the post in... No slip as yet and feels very strong.
-
• #5
How much was the post?
-

I can supply you with a new alloy 24mm post for £25, no shims.

How much does your 24 mm seat post weigh in grams? What is the length in millimeters?
What is your shipping cost to the states, San Antonio, Texas, 78250, USA, specifically? -

OOH OOH I live in Ireland and Decathlon dont exist over here and they dont have an online shop, any chance you could measure the length of the post?(or min extention to top) and maybe bother shipping it to Ireland?

Does anyone make these with a modern micro adjust top ?
-
• #11
you can get a 22.2mm acor one with microadjust from greyville and shim it up, i did.
has a ropey acor logo on but it buffs off with a bit of elbow grease. you can gen pick up bmx posts around the 22mm mark that'll be micro adjust. shimming works fine

thanks for that, will go for the shim option. What sort of price are they ?
-
• #14
Shims are great - except you can buy a 22.2 - 24mm shim.
To solve this problem i bought an offcut of 0.9mm brass (ebay £1.50) and bent it around the 22.2mm seatpost.

make shim from coke can... or bean can.. :) FTW
-
• #17
coke cans are made from 0.0762mm thick ali. you need 0.9mm of material - so thats 11.8 wraps of coke can on a 22.2 post - its easier and samer to use a .9mm shim. (and cost the same as 3 cans of coke).

I hate bumping old threads, but I just had a hell of a time trying to find a 24mm seat post. I called over 12 different bike shops, all telling me it was impossible to find a 24mm seat post for my Peugeot and that they haven't been manufactured since the 80s. Incredibly, I found an obscure bike shop located here http://www.yellowjersey.org/frogstem.html
Not only do they sell the seat posts, but crank sets, bottom brackets, headsets, and they also repair damaged forks for old French Metric based bicycles. Again, http://www.yellowjersey.org/frogstem.html

I have a 1979 peugeot whose seatpost is 24mm dead. Local bike shop only has 25mm smallest. Do you peugeot owners just approach engineering companies for straight ally tube of this diameter? Is my local bike shop pants and should I look elsewhere? Do I have a freakishly small seatpost?
Cheers,
Matt

The 23.4mm one? Where can you get a shim from?
hey i know this kind of question has come up a few times but i'm still not sure exactly what to do.. . i'm looking for a new seat post for my peugoet, the diammeter is 24mm. I know that decathlon sells 23.4mm seat posts and people say that you can shim it up to 24mm, but i can't find anywhere that sells shims this kind of size, and i'm not sure about using beer cans really... so is there a way around this? can i adjust a bought shim by trimming it and squeezing it? is this a really dumb question?
anyway thanks for any help you can offer
