x-rays are all clear so just scrapes and bruises.
was going across a roundabout and the van driver came up to the junction, slowed down, looked around and just did not see me - so he pulled out and hit the side of me. I think he was as shaken up as me, he accepted full liability and said that he had only just woken up and despite looking just had not seen me.
bike is badly damaged and scratched - will need to get the frame properly inspected, to make it worse had only bought new pedals and saddle this week.
have been to two LBS shops for quotes for replacement parts but need to get the frame properly evaluated as well. as its just over a month old will claim full value for everything
will go and see a fixed specialist shop early next week
plod were good and so were the ambulance people
cheers to all for messages of concern and support
and i am now another cycling statistic

Glad to hear you're not too badly injured James. Sounds like a lucky escape.
Heal quick.
-
• #310
ouch. heal up, claim the money for a 'broken bike', have two bikes!
-
• #311
bad news, dancing james. just to clarify,i think what you mean to say on a publicly accessible bike forum is that your bike is badly damaged -- likely beyond repair -- but you're most upset that the new pedals and saddle that you've only just bought were scratched to hell.

Anybody know what time they made it there and if they met up ok?

a few of us got there about 2.00. i dried my shoes on the handryer and looked like alomst everyone else was there when they were about moist rather tan sodden. all accounted for about 3.00pm i think but i didnt look at much apart from the bottom of three pints and the glorious on/off sunshine.

Great day, real good to meet everyone.
I had to jet once we got to the beach to find Charlie, who we'd dropped by about Brixton but who still made it to Brighton nonetheless.
Thanks all,
Glen [no brakes]. -
