110 hubs help

  • So, I have searched for this, and found a sortof answer; but nothing satisfactory.
I've just acquired an old holdsworth track frame, and am looking to get new wheels built for it.
The ends are 110mm at the moment; and i dont really want to cold set them to 120.
I need a 110 rear hub; apparently dia compe gran compes come in 110mm; but they are proving a pain in the arse to find in the uk; esp in black.

so; can someone either tell me of a decent hub that can be respaced down (that isnt in the DA / phil price range)? or of a place where i can get me some 110mm Dia compes in the UK.

thanks in advance fo any help...

  • how about built it with period airlite hubs which come in 110-115 range and can be easily re-spaced with washers.

  • I have one of these that came with the frame- but to be honest its pretty scary looking, and it rattles about in the dropouts (would need some spacing out). I guess id need to give it a refurb as it looks and feels disgusting right now...i was hoping there would be an easier + new option...

  • cheers winston, i did see those- but i thought they looked a bit cheapy.
    They working for you?

....they sortof look like the joytech hubs; anyone recon i could get either and they'd still space down?

  • I got them for my circus bike....which has taken a beating over the last few weeks....so far no problems.....although my bike gets plenty of rough use it (obviously) doesn't get much mileage!

god, i hate to think what you're going to do to a nice vintage holdsworth track frame. that shitty hub is worth £20 if it is an airlite (and not bashed) ;)

well, im off tomorrow morning to get it coated (probably sky blue metallic), I'm just annoyed you cant get rear aerospokes in 110mm... some pink ones would look awesome... ive also got my eye on some sweet purple anno drops.

The perhaps airlite is pretty badly corroded, so its hard to make out markings. I'll clean it up and try find some.

  • puppies....

    ...dying....

  • buy this

  • cheers flickwg. I found a 110 version of that hub, but cant find one in the UK. Looks like I'll be ordering it. I'll pm you when it arrives.
