Berlin by bike?

i went last august and hired a bike. it's great. cycle paths everywhere that people actually respect - it's a real no-no for a ped to walk in a cycle lane, and expect to get shouted at if you do. unlike here, where cycle paths are just pavement extensions for pushchairs and whoever fancies it.

Theres a whole different ethos there to bikes and peds. I got a verbal wrap on the knuckles a few times for not waiting for the green man to cross at traffic lights. Its kind of surreal, people standing there waiting for the green man and theres no traffic at all. They just stand there and wait for their turn to go. I must have seemed like an anarchist for crossing as I did. Great city !!!
