Few years back some arse smashed into my car while it was parked outside my flat, while I was at work
Went to report it down at Brixton nick, sat waiting for over an hour to be told 'Sorry sir, we haven't got the correct forms here, try Streatham station'
I go up to Streatham station, half an hour wait later, the WPC on reception calls me over, I explain the situation, her EXACT reply was 'Sorry, there's not a lot we can do about it, they always get away with it!'
I shake my head in disbelief and she says I could TRY filling out a form, I asked if there was much point, she said 'it's up to you'
I told her there was CCTV pointing down my road, 30yrds away pointing towards my car **'It's not our responsibility, you'll have to call the council' **
I called the council, told them. I had to PAY, yes PAY the council £50 to check the CCTV after giving them the exact date
2 weeks later I get a call 'Sorry, the cameras weren't looking down your road that day'!!(I later find out this is bollocks as I know a fella on my street is on the local housing committee - he said they do)
So there you go....
Cost £1,600 to fix, I had to pay half and I lose all my no claims
Coppers, good for fuck all!
