  • Been down to the Brompton factory, they took a look at the forging of the crank and confirmed that it was definitely a crank failure rather than something I've done.

    They're certain that this is the first occasion that they've seen this, and the crank supplier (possibly Stronglight as that's what they look like) are keen to see the crank.

    I cannot fault their customer service whatsoever. In a couple of days I'm picking the bike back up with new cranks, rear mudguard, gear adjustment chain plus a chain tensioner (all damaged/destroyed in the crash), plus on top of that a new BB, tyre, rear dymano and SPD pedals (they need to keep the one in what's left of the crank). They tried to convince me to also have a luggage bag that fits onto the front of the bike, but I don't want one of those as it makes you look even more of a prat than you already do!
