So?
He's gone the way of Marc Ecko, and gone all 'legit' (not that he really wasn't already). This is no different really to the puma/carhart bikes. Except that it is far more appealing than either of those!
Didn't marc ecko graffiti on air force one?
You shouldn't get so angry about stuff like that. I wouldn't be too surprised if Shephard Fairy, if that's his real name, set out from the get-go to make money from anti-capitalism. Cos he knows that young/trendy people think it's cool.
Cynicism rocks.
nah that whole air force one was a fake set up by him to create publicity. with fairy i dont know if he had honest intension's or not, but he keeps on trying to defend his actions as if there is nothing wrong with pasting up images of people who fought for civil liberties whilst at the same time making adverts for a company which those who were fighting for civil liberties called for a boycott of. that to me smacks of hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy? You don't say. :P
It's all about money.

The bike looks awesome for an off the peg. How much are these going for anyhoo? I guess the thing is that by the time you've tweaked it enough to make it your own you could have spent the cash on something no one else could put together - and isn't that most of the fun? Is for me.

£750 ish too much
-

It really isn't a bad bike, just the price is ott. Forget what it represents and its quite a tidy bike. To the majority of people who see bikes as just bikes... this will be a nice bike that they will enjoy until they read this thread and seed a little bit of uncertainty. I'd recommend doing as you will & not caring about people that vomit when they see the bike

has anyone seen the film that obey got its styling, ethos or whatever from. it's called 'they live' and it's awesome!
-

I don't like all this uber-hip Him X Her X The Cats Mother crap, but if one wanted to buy an 'investment' bike for whatever silly reason, then this would be a safe bet the way Fairey's work is going.

i saw one recently and just wondered which aspect of 'form and function' led fuji/obey to drill this bike for a rear brake but not a front.
-
• #43
Apparently they're not drilled for a front brake. I saw a guy on one at Old St roundabout the other day and we chatted on the way round - seems that he had to fir a weird hub brake to his. Looked nice, though, but not my cup'o'tea.
-
• #44
To clarify, he didn't "fir" a hub brake, but sensibly fitted one instead. It's much more effective.

This perplexes me too.
The fork can't even be successfully drilled for a brake (as Shootthebreeze will attest), so why have a brakehole on the back?

Should probably have read this before posting...

I actually saw him as well, I thought that was bizarre.

Yeah, each to their own, but if I'm buying an £800 off the peg bike, I don't want to go and have a wheel re-built on day one. It did look nice, though.

that'll be shootthebreeze on here, it has a drum front brake.

saw one of these in evans canary wharf as well. complete with double straps. pretty safa girl said whomever bought it would probably take them off and that she'd give me a ring if they leave the doubles with them. what a doll. do like the bike but for that price, fahgettaboudit.
