Cadel did well to limit the damage, the problem is he goes for the win in the most boring way possible, through conistancy, but then thats the way to win the TDF so no shame in that.
From the neutrals point of view it would be nice to see him put the hammer down on his rivals in the alps, a la Armstrong Ulrich, but given he doesnt have a team like Armstrong had to back him up it woud be suicide to do so.
