My first ride on a new road bike, had some kind of Crank Bros pedals but I was used to SPDs. I pull out of the end of my road, do a couple of hundred yards to the first set of lights on my way to spin a couple of laps of Richmond Park.
A hot blonde on a carbon roadie pulls up alongside me as I'm slowing down. As I look up she gives me a super cute smile. As I open my mouth to say something witty and charming I find the pedals don't have the same twist relaese I'm used to and I slow-mo fell sideways onto the pavement. Very red face, pathetic attempt to explain about the new pedals. She looks down at me. All she says:"Your chain's fallen off" Then she rode off to meet her friends 100m further on - they are all hosing themselves.
To make matters worse, she was riding the opposite way round the park to me so I had to deal with the shouts of abuse every time I passed her and her friends. Not smoove...
