Last night I rode home from work and it was a real slog. I thought that either my brakes were out of alignment, or my chain needing cleaning and oiling. but when I got home and examined the bike I found that one of the spokes on my back wheel had broken. this immediately made me think, "what would happen if this occurred on long ride"?
Does the DD support vehicle carry any bog-standard front and rear 700c wheels? since the majority of riders will be geared, will anyone carry any rear wheels that are singlespeed (17 or 18 sprocket)? Just a thought. Punctures will not be a problem (will any enterprising souls be carrying that Slime stuff for quick repairs), but a broken spoke or cracked rim, will need to be replaced.
I hope its a great ride for everybody, and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do it next year, but in the meantime, I'd hate for someone I know to not be able to complete due to something like broken spokes.
