You can get a fuji track on line for 280 quid
so to me doesnt seem like a very good deal for a trade in on the genesis - there is an OTP (of the peg) thread that will no doubt be of great help here:

get an njs frame, it's the way of the bike samurai. Nagasawa, Procyon, Eimei, names to savour... the subtlety of sushi, the strength of steel and the price of a small car... from the land of the setting sun etc

Buy one, fit brake, ride.

Yeah, lose the anti-NJS attitude and just ride... Get the Fuji... Easy to sell on if you don't get on with it...

sell it to teenslain, he be lovin' the funky rad modern shizzle.

Keep the Ridgeback, save an extra £50 for the Fuji.
-
• #16
sell the ridgeback privately, then buy a fuji, a brake and a larger sprocket
-
• #17
remember the standard wheels on the fuji aren't exactly great.

I'd only buy it if there was something very wrong with it that cost twice the price of the entire bike to put right... Or if it gave me a boner...

The Fuji is awesome for the money
Wheels are fine. Not great, but a decent starting point, as you say.
Looks nice, too.
Fit a brake (post on here, bound to be some knocking about) and ride.
Maybe change the rear cog to an 18 tooth, I think they come 48:16 as standard, which is a little hard work. You can get Miche cogs for around a tenner.
You'll love it - have fun!
