Haha, that had me fooled for a second too. Except I couldn't understand how anybody could POSSIBLY think I was ugly!
I am a geek, so I investigated how it works... it's quite simple, it's just using a hyperlink to the Facebook badge, provided by Facebook:
"http://www.facebook.com/badge.php?&items[=badge_profile_pic&items[=badge_mobile_status&layout=vert&format=png"
It's a facebook.com link, so it adheres to the Facebook security model, e.g. it only works if you're currently logged into Facebook within the same browser session.
