  • jaygee came up with a foolproof method. try this:

fill seatpost with sand until it reaches the required height. then insert seatpost. perfect.

you sure PJ? maybe you missed the lesson that clearly explained the correct method for fitting the seat post.
Insert the post into the desired hole. if the hole fits give the bike a biscuit. if the fitting is in any way out, send a small electric charge to the bike. repeat this over a period of 2 to 3 months

  • However, this was silly and, to my knowledge, was never as popular as a Chopper. But just imagine how different the world would be today if every other kid in the 70s had had one of these instead.

  • i went to the one in mile end again and got the fluid. however i didnt like the look of the job and the man who served me tis morning wasnt there iso i didn feel safe with the level of service.

i rode my bike back but i can only ride it stood up, it s been so annoying right now. i didnt feel i can finis the conversion until i get a seat. on the way back i went to Brick Lane Bikes who were open this time. they lookd at the bike and i realy dont think they understood me. he said he couldnt get an inveerse shim. i think he was of slavic decent.

anyway in the end they said i could have another seatpost that fitted the tube. this saved me a lot of bother with a really dangerous fluid. i feel like sayign thanks for nothing but i know some of you have helped so thanks fo r thos e people. i can now ride my carbolight and the next stop is to make it ficxed.

ill put pictures up as soona s i can. i have one or town more questiosn but i might wait until tomorrw.

  • More tomorrow...

  • please.......

  • Do not trust the Slavic peoples... if he said he couldn't get an inveerse shim, he was lying.

  • I believe that inverse shims are available from 'Emperor's New Bike Co'. Can't find their address at the moment.

  • I don't know why nobody has pointed out to saxondale that all he needs to do is make the seat-tube wider by filing it out until the seat-post fits.

  • well cos he'll take a welder to file the external seat tube not the internal seat post dude am i confusing myself

  • Ok back to the actual point of this thread, I have a Peugeot 103(I know) and I had the seat post measured and I was told it was 24.4(I think) are these easily available?

  • Anyone willing to pick up one of those decathlon 23.4 mm posts and either send it to me in the US or to my company's office in Kensington?

I've shimmed my peugy for now, but it's not an ideal fix - now I know why the frame was so cheap, this seatpost issue is a real shitsystem.

  • after all these years of being very much accustomed to the term "inverse shim", ive now finally been pointed to the thread that bore it all.

i reckon it was tynan all along

  • i reckon it was tynan all along
