22mm seat post?

Posted on
  • I finally got hold of a caliper to measure the seat post on my project carlton corsair today and its a good old 22mm!

I can't find one anywhere! Does anyone have one they fancy selling?

  • 22?? thats tiny...smallest i came across is 24...

  • NegativeShimâ„¢ + 27.2mm ?

  • ...

  • Maybe i am being retarded.. 22mm is the inside measurement and 27.2mm is from outside edge to outside edge?

If i have been retarded in this one case i really don't mind because it would make finding a seatpost a lot easier..

What are you measuring, a seat post or a seat tube (the tube on the frame that the seat posts inserts into) ?

  • shin... is this you again...?

  • i had problems with my seatpost and wanted dto get a shim liek tynan says. in the end i had to track down a similar post thatr fitted. hope this helps. i tried everywher including halfrods.

  • Sorry, i am measuring the seat tube as i do not have a seat post to measure

  • I heart Saxondale...

Well if you are measuring the inside of the seat tube and it is showing 22mm then you are right that you need a 22mm post.

    BMX seatposts come in 22mm.

  • Ah ok... Sorry for being a bit thick it's the first time i have had to do this, all my other bikes have been standard off the shelf jobs!

Well i guess i will have a hunt around for a 22mm BMX post then - thanks for your help tynan!

  • like i said i had similar problems and in the end it was to much for me to use an inveerse shim. but people were realy heelpful on me.

  • i have a spare post you can have, but itd have to be posted.

  • That would be great... let me know how much you want for it plus p&p!

  • im looking to replace my old seat post, where do i have to measure?

    Cheers

  • 1 - use calipers as the OP has done.
2 - use a strip of paper wrapped around and divide by pi. (rizla)
3 - read the measurement off the old seatpost.

If you don't already have a post that fits it gets a bit trickier..
