  • Just noticed that ribble are selling the lower end dolan track frames for cheap and am thinking about treating myself.
But I have no idea how they ride, I will be using it for time trialing and genral sport riding, so race geom is good but I don't want to fall off every time I look over my shoulder!, will this be ok?
also do they have bottle mounts?
    thanks

  • track frames don't have bottle mounts.

  • mine does Chris! ;)

  • Dolan are a well-known and reputed track frame manufacturer so they wouldn't sell complete cr*p. That said, one forumer here got a right shoddy one last year and so they have a reputation on this site for being a bit dodgy. Personally, I'd get it but check it closely when you receive.

my housemate has a dolan track bike and uses it as a commuter - weirdest set up of a track bike EVER - however she's danish and has a love of comfort and although she says its not as good as her big ole dutch bike, it is qute good.
    Personally I don't like aluminium...

Worse than the wonky frame was the disgraceful customer "service".

I've never dealt with dRibble, but their rep for shoddy service is widespread.

  • I have a fairly cheap Dolan aluminium track frame. It's OK, but nothing to write home about. Light, sturdy, and as harsh as hell.

  • recently I've found ribble to be better than parkers with their service..

the dolans get around a lot, there's many of them. try it, you can't really lose.

if it be bended, then sended it back..ed.

    bottle bosses are useful!

I have just been fucking around with jubilee clips on my frame, reckon I'll get Charles Roberts to put some on when I get my bike re-sprayed next year.

Thats what I was worried about, not to good on a long ride really

  • @RPM - why do you want Chas Roberts to put jubilee clips on your frame? Lifetime warranty or something?

  • I think for 110 quid you aint gonna get much better value, unless a forumer decides to be kind and puts something in the classifieds that suits

  • @RPM - why do you want Chas Roberts to put jubilee clips on your frame? Lifetime warranty or something?

yeah, don't want to do it myself and void the warranty

  • I tried cold-setting some NJS jubilee clips once. Expensive mistake.

  • I had an alu Dolan for nearly a year, nice bit of kit. Light strong and does the job if you're just using it in town from A-B.
If you need any more advice ask that fat American Scottish wannabe, Walkersan on here, he's good mates with him I've heard ;-)

I have no sympathy for someone trying to cold set njs JHC (jubilee chose clips), there are so many warning out there on the internet that to do so is beyond comprehension. You make me sick sometime BMMF. Philistine.

    Beautiful.

  • Just to lower the tone once, because I don't do it very often. I 'dated' a Kirsty Dolan at uni. Rode very well.

  • did she take a 1 1/8" fork?

  • Had that been THE Kirsty Gallagher, I would've been very impressed...

  • Balls to the Dolan, get a poncy NJS keirin frame. You'll lav it.

  • I bought a Dolan Pre Corsa from ribblecycles 2 month ago and I´m very pleased with it.
Use it primary to get to work and for longer rides with "clip on" bottle mounts.

    In its full HHSB glory!!!!
