Decathlon bib shorts. Anyone tried them?

As title, need some new shorts. I know Hippy loves his Assos but I was wondering if anyone actually had experience with the Decathlon bibs rather than a, "they're cheap so must be crap" reply.

they're comfy, well the ones i have with the red inner (just as comfy as chamois). i'd say they are in the middle, got some nice high-end nalini ones and some cheap nalini ones.

ive got one. it's the one with a white flat stitching on. chucking them out. dont like it. material is too thin. and padding average. the stitching irritates me a bit...

Looking in normal shops for clearance items is what I usually do for none Assos stuff.
Yes, it means going into Evans, etc but it's worth it sometimes.

have a pair and never had a problem with them. find the padding is enough and have no issues with rubbing from them on long hauls.

They have different price points. The cheapest ones look nasty. I got some of the red-lined ones and so far they're pretty comfy.

Cheers for the info. I am going to check Evans tomorrow night for bargain bins and Decathlon on the way home.

if all else fails buy some adult plastic incontinence pants and stuff a naan bread in the gusset.

I too have a pair, red pad, white stitching. Put it this way - they're cheap and they do the job (and as such they're very extremely good value) but when they're the last pair of shorts I'd chose to take on any ride lasting over, say, an hour. The padding is just about ok, the fabric is thin and wearing/stretching quite a bit so it doesn't hold you together as much. On the plus side, they're flat stitched and the cut suits me well. As a budget commuting pair that get worn daily on short rides to and from work, great, I'd almost definitely buy another pair. For any other usage, I'd suggest you look elsewhere - in my experience, money spent on shorts is money well spent. Again, judge these on time - 1hr is about the cutoff for these IMO.

For mid-priced bib shorts, Pearl Izumi suit me really well and I think they're excellent value given the amount of use I've put them through. I have both the Attack and the Slice Ultrasensor, and both are excellent.
