Edinburgh Fixed Gear

  • I know this is a London focused web site! but I've recently moved to Edinburgh and I'm trying to build a crew of fixed gear riders and start something positive for fixed gear culture here in Edinburgh and Scotland.

We will be developing the web site and merchandise over the next few months.

If any one is interested in contributing to the site and swapping links please give me a shout.

    cheers

  • nice one neek, glad to see a fixed gear scene taking off in my home town. I used to be a messenger in the burgh many moons ago and I was using a montain bike cos of the constant up and down the mound and down to the solicitors in the new town. Also the weather was pretty shite and your right about those cobbles. Next time I'm back I'll catch up with you guys when it gets off the ground. Good luck

  • nice one neek, I'm in Edinburgh (but I'm a Londoner originally). pretty new to the ssfg scene but loving every minute on my bike just now. the cobbles are a right bastard though... and all the roadworks right now.

  • Theres loads of fixed riders in Edinburgh, most of them couriers or ex couriers and thier mates. I don't live there anymore but used to and worked as a courier, mainly on a fixed wheel. The hills aren't too bad you get used to them, since leaving I went brakeless which I find ok in London but back there its a bit of a nightmare going down some of the hills.

During the summer loads of the riders meet up on the Links on Friday evenings for a beer

Yeah man! there are, mainly just couriers! and that's why I want to do something positive, create a crew of riders who are up for street riding, and helping create fixed gear competitions or even bike polo events etc. etc. something a bit more focused!

At the moment I'm creating stickers and merchandise, I'm getting articles published in local scene magazines and stuff to... I just wanna try get as many people involved as possible.

Maybe you could let them all know about it.

    cheers
