    Probably sensible.

    I find riding over grass etc easier on my skinny tyred fixie than mtb. Sharp power delivery, and "rollage" (wheel diameter) is most important. I used wonder how all those cyclocross dudes rode such extreme off road on what at the time looked to me like unbelivaby skinny tyres. But since having my current bike. I really do get it. Shant think youd ever need anything more than a 35c for anything other than serious boulder hopping DH.
