Chat away in French for a few minutes, then casually drop in an English question. If it responds in Englais you got youself an English bb. A quizzical raised eyebrow probably means it's French.
Or smarter than you. -

get it pregnant, wait nine months ,when it goes into labour, if it screams in french, then it's french.

Stop pissing about you lot, i'm on a mission to find a bike that fits me, is this worth a punt or not, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250266698234&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=015

I would avoid them because of the funky threading issues, although some of the newer French bikes have English threads.

Ok i'll leave it, cheers.

reynolds 531 is always a good start. its a racing frame and had campy seat post. Ripe for conversion.
However it's tiny !! 52cm. For 5'4" person at a rough guess.
Make sure it's fits you before bidding i say. -

I'm tiny, thats the problem i'm having, can't seem to find much for us little folk, is it worth a shot.

It doesn't appear to come with a fork so you'd have to factor in the cost of a fork.

How much would be a reasonable price be taking into consideration the postage costs.

I have some forks with an inch steerer, also a headset and bottom bracket.

I'm tempted to just buy the one above and take the risk, (heart ruling the head) if it goes pear shaped i'll stick it back on ebay.

Why don't you ask the seller

it's not a very big deal to have french threaded bb
you can always rethread it or just use two left bb cups (french is left threaded on both sides, english is left threaded on left and right on right)
so if you have an english bb, just swap its right cup with some spare left one
it works alright on a Starnord frame with french threading, shimano bbor that may be swiss threading.. wtf?

I've read that also, but it doesn't tell me if that particular bike is correct, it's actually going higher than i'm prepared to pay so may leave it.
-
• #24
did you work out what size you are yet?
-

21 inch frame should be fine.
Just quicky i guess When Buying A Peugeot Bike how do you know if the threads on the BB and headset are english or french.
