  • Tynan that would have been a radical statement forty years ago

  • perfect for the forum but too obscure for stickers. How about "I always give way to cyclists"

  • Tommy I was kinda ain't a Samaritans a kind of Jew?

  • Tynan that would have been a radical statement forty years ago

    And yours, 2000 years ago.

  • I want some of those stickers as well!

Had an altercation with one of those people carriers, I politely mentioned that he should've stopped before the bike area(whatever these are called) at the lights. His retort was "oh really? well i didnt feel like it today." Cunt.

  • Tommy I was kinda ain't a Samaritans a kind of Jew?

Yeah I think so. I think they say they are the true Jews or something. Much the same as ever religion say we are the true religion I suppose.

I'm currently applying for government funding for a new start up religion, Dragons have already given me conditional backing, I'm following the Scientology model of religion.

    I want in.

Can I be one the main disciples, if not I don't mind just doing the catering.

    Not relevant today?

  • Tommy I was kinda ain't a Samaritans a kind of Jew?

Samaria was a sort of an early Jewish deal, they took the Torah as the real deal but kind of fell behind as Judaism split and moved off in a new direction (or something like that).

The reason that, in the above tired platitude, the Samaritan is referred to as a good Samaritan is that when these two jewish tribes went their own ways they did so with some animosity, the allusion in the parable is that all samaritans are bastards by default, but this fine fellow stands out for his kindness.

  • Not relevant today?

Yes, superstition and mythology are not relevant, what is relevant is kindness and empathy, our innate reciprocal altruism.

I am not sure what point you are making posting this ? That we need superstition and mythology to avoid this kind of thing ?

  • i just like it, that's all..

  • Makes me feel more than a bit ill that does.

  • Jewish People are great until you start doing business with them..,...

  • Ride Safe

  • I'm currently applying for government funding for a new start up religion, [snip] I'm following the Scientology model of religion.

Fortunately they weren't granted charitable status as they're insufficiently 'religious' to be eligible for the benefits charitable status gives. As i've typed this a massive thunder storm has started outside my window. Does that mean Tom Cruise is about to burst through the window?

    :D

Ha, marvelous ! That kind of sums up my whole point - firstly the idea of helping someone is trivial, it is basic, it is self evidently good, we make this point no clearer with tired platitudes trotted out by self important theologians and apologists, who sell us self evident basic information under the guise of some divine wisdom.

And secondly it tends to get overlooked that inherent in this story is that animosity the Jews had towards those from Samaria.

On an off point, the colour grading on that clip is lovely, looks like a painting.

You can do both if you like. Do you do volavons and the cheese and pineapple on sicks?

  • Tynan I take it that your innate reciprocal altruism only extends to those you consider to be above mythology and superstitious? Otherwise why make deliberately provocative and potentially hurtful statements about other peoples faiths. Unlike you I don't believe in the innate goodness of the human condition as experience has taught me that most people are ignorant and selfish and really couldn't give a flying fuck. These good samaritans only served to remind me that it doesn't need to be that way

  • :)

    Ha !!

Why the fuck did it take more than a minute before anyone went to help this poor fucker?

  • Tynan I take it that your innate reciprocal altruism only extends to those you consider to be above mythology and superstitious?

    No.

Otherwise why make deliberately provocative and potentially hurtful statements about other peoples faiths.

    No one has been hurt.

Unlike you I don't believe in the innate goodness of the human condition as experience has taught me that most people are ignorant and selfish and really couldn't give a flying fuck.

I will take that as your contribution.

These good samaritans only served to remind me that it doesn't need to be that way

That's nice, but there are many of us that do not need mythology and fables to act decently towards others. Whatever works for you.

  • You can do both if you like. Do you do volavons and the cheese and pineapple on sicks?

I can do little Jesus's made from pork on cocktail crucifixes.

  • Sorry Tynan but I prefer this version.
