I often wear gloves to protect my valuable hands
and lycra bibshorts to protect my arsehole and "gooch"
and shoes that attach to the pedals.
I don't know why I do it, WAC!

If I didn't wear gloves in summer, I wouldn't get a tan like this - http://trepidexplorer.blogs.com/photos/trans_canada/p6030089.html

i used to wear gloves all year round but stopped after discovering that spongier bartape and bare hands was far more comfortable and less faffy. and, sorry teddy, stylier.

does bartape help prevent numbness

i always wear gloves having cut up my hands falling off without them in the past. Plus they are these so they are stylier.

Gloves are the best surface I find to wipe off grease/dirt off my hands. Certainly better than getting some muck on a tshirt.

Also handy for starting a duel should the occaision arise.

always wear gloves. always wear glasses aswell. had to many accidents not to. new gloves is alot easier than skin grafts when you come off at 20+.
and a twig hitting specks doesn't hurt anywhere near as much as one in the eye.i also wear full kevlar body protection but then i think thats going to be common place in london soon.

I've had a set of those Altura Stringbacks for about 2 weeks and the palm/thumb joint is worn through already. Stylin' yes - hardwearing no.

A bit of hit and miss. I had the same problem on one of my pair of Altura Stringbacks but three other pairs have done me really well.
You could try contacting them and asking for a replacement pair.

2 weeks is a bit crap thouhg, +1 to what seldom killer said.
I know it's wrong, but I really covet the white rapha ones - all sniper-padding-goats-massaged-in-baby-oil-£90-worth of them.

is it just me or do you some people lose all their common sense when they mount a cycle? I see crazy stuff like people wearing gloves when it's sunny and way to many layers.I wanna ask them what they're thinking and tell them that they're only riding to work - not going on an expedition.
1.Most people have no common sense anyway.
2.Gloves are generally acceptable all year round.
3.Too many layers is stupid, people don't seem to realise that cycling is exercise so you should dress for 5-7 degrees celcius warmer weather.
4.They aren't thinking at all. -

Have you ever had to ask your better half, gf, wife, mother to wipe your arse because you have taken all the skin off your hands from crashing? No? Well neither have I but I wear gloves so I never have to.
All people in London wear too many clothes and all women complain about the cold when it's not cold.
Everyone should HTFU.
