Project Brief: Tour de Shoreditch/Hackney
A Shoreditch Trust cycle event promoting all aspects of cycling (environmental sustainability, youth engagement, healthy lifestyles, cycle and road safety)
Shoreditch Park and Hackney street course linking green spaces and olympic sites.
Sunday 17th August 2008
1pm – 7pm
Vision:
To produce a cycle-focussed event [Tour de Shoreditch] for the Hackney community, including individuals, community groups and as a team building exercise for companies.
To establish Tour de Shoreditch as a recognised annual event which benefits the local community. Numbers increasing year on year
To reach < 10,000 participants, spectators/visitors over the day
To encourage local participation in fun cycling around Hackney
Promote cycle safety and education
Programme:
Market stalls featuring bike doctors, cycle shops, local arts and craft, and agencies such as the LCC, GLA, TFL and the Met.
Cycle route around Hackney (5-10 mile) encompassing the Olympic venues and Olympic site, featuring a treasure hunt, fancy dress, vintage parade and teams (e.g. estates, council etc) with sponsored prizes given to category winners with route led by famous ex-olympian/s.
Unicycle hockey and bike Polo competitions and demonstrations.
Bike Fashion parade
French cycle circus show for the LIFT venue
Bike ballet
Grass track racing
Bar + catering
Vintage bikes and fashion parade e.g. penny farthings
Weird and wonderful – a bike powered DJ with PA and the Levenshulme bike orchestra. A bike powered cinema and DJ
A fully detailed BMX track with demonstations
Stunt bikes and half pipe show inc. workshops and training.
Stage – DJ/compere and prize giving etc.

Sounds most interesting, is this something you are putting together yourself Roxy? Maybe ask VB where he had our t-shirts printed, they were quite reasonable. I doubt you will be short of support from us lot :)
