Handlebar moustache - any ideas?

Posted on
  • ok so i'm thinking of discarding the idea of butchering my drops into bullhorns, and going for a moustache style handlebar for my cheapo-pub-cruiser single speed. Any ideas? And i'm not spending 30 quid on Nitto's.
It would be good to get some advice before this thread descends into the posting of pictures of tom selleck.

  • Yes, do it.

  • adjective comes before the noun. a red car. a straight bar.
and here i thought this would be about epic moustaches... owell.

  • I got these bad boys from Cavendish for £15 (you saw them when you bought the wheelset off me I believe)

    They're pashley.
Northroad aluminium 'tache for £15 on various websites, possibly also in Cavendish.
And Freshtrip has got the lovely promenade bars but they are pricey nicey :)

  • Yes indeed. And how about a Tom Selleck impersonator:

  • i'd got for more of a cruiser bar style, the moustache bars are meant to drop a bit and tend to be VERY wide, whereas cruisers will have a greater rise, and can be cut much narrower. raleigh makes a cheapo one, like 15 quid or something. very comfy bars in general though.

  • yes tomasito, your ride was my inspiration... was hoping you'd come thru with the info...!

  • SJS has some options I've looked at.. even some tandem stoker bars?
    Cheapo 1 - alloy
Cheapo 2 - Steel - ignoer this option

    But they are WIDE!! 61cm!

  • I saw some swept back "City bars" 25.4 clamp in Decathlon for £7 or something.

most of the width on them seems to be the handles, you could easily lose half.

  • Tourist bar at FreshTripe - £20
54 cm wide and 7 cm rise (or fall, if you flip as Skully would have you do)

  • any excuse to post this beauty again:

  • classy build.

  • thanks guys. i think i'll go for it.

yeah ... well ... I was drunk and stoned when I said that!

Think I'd like to try some of these style of bars, probably the 'right' way up, on my bad weather/child carrier ride. I've been riding it a lot recently, for some reason.
