I think I've spotted where you're going wrong, or at least one of the ways;
Depending upon your point of view, calling women birds is either offensive objectification, or the lamest attempt at bravado possible. Either way up you end up looking like a loser.
I like to go with offensive objectification. It's better than saying "broad", "dame", or "skirt"
Also the "level" in question was a joke. It's more of the point that I am scared of girls.
And I just thought this was a cute and somewhat entertaining anecdote. Guess not.
