it is either oxymoronic or tautological depending on the rigour with which you define 'single-speed'.
No it isn't, it's clearly a tautology - saying the same thing twice. An oxymoron combines two contradictory terms to form an expressive phrase, cruel kindness, falsely true, Superprecise grammar police officer.

snobbery is really silly! But I always found that the coolest bikers have the least expected bikes, mainly cos they are ridden the most and so things are being replaced regularly. so anyone looking down on my well-ridden steeds for lack of appropriate chrome would receive a similar look back! to be fair he was smiling in a very smuggish way as if he just made the bike himself.
being frank is better than buttering them up just to tell them their choice of bike is shit.

However if you feel that I was snobbish toward the person in an injusifiying way especially, then I do apologise for doing so (if that person is in this forum, I'd apologised to him), there is no reason for me to act snobbish toward him.

@ Platini, my point was that it depends on what one means by single-speed. yes it's a tautology because it reiterates the same thing twice, but people often use 'single-speed' to' differentiate from 'fixed-gear' for instance. The name of the forum, fixed gear and single-speed, identifies two different groups of bikes, yet a fixed-gear is also a specific type of single-speed. in common use, single-speed impies a freewheel. see what i mean?

staring down at unipack riders from the high horse that is your bianchi pista....? the 'sup-ed up citroen saxo' of the track bike world.
bike snobbery eh? who would have it?
As a Bianchi Pista owner I absolutely love this Citroen Saxo comparison! Made me LOL!!
Im a painfully honest person, whenever I see that people have overpaid on an innapropriate bike (or any other thing) Including overpriced bike shop service. Or have just setup their bike in a really illogical way. I have to tell them, I ease it to em in real life yeah, but on this forum I sometimes just drop. - Your bike looks shit. - Sorry if I offended anyone!
