Cool links. Williams did a chain ring with a 1" pitch!

Hmmm,
I know they are expensive. I love the history though! How hard do you think it will be to get a bottom bracket to fit the stronglight cranks?
Or is this crazy and in fact I could just buy new cranks and bottom bracket that will fit with my existing chainring and spider???
Will the stronglight cranks fit with my existing chinring and spider>????

you shouldn't really do it, but i think you can get stronglight cranks off with a TA extractor. If you're careful. A few people in London have TA crank extractors.

£87 ?!?! Watch and wait and just buy the crank arms to save ££s
you should be able to get a slightly more modern pair for £20 if you are patient.
I know your bike is unrideable - but unless you are really want period-correctness, it's a waste of monneys IMO. Those cranks have some real history.
EDIT - you will need a Bottom Bracket aswell. If you buy me a 111mm campagnolo chorus Bottom bracket I will give you my TA cranks and a bottom bracket. :-) not the chainring.
I'll buy you a Chorus BB, how much? when?

asm had a TA crank extractor until Bigben stole it.
I've one here if you need it. -

I used a set of AB77s when I was racing in the late 60s. They had the advantage of being able to use the popular TA rings (either their 50.4mm 5-bolt rings or their 6-bolt rings on their adapter) or Campagnolo rings (151mm BCD in that era) using the Williams adapter that pjoseph29 has.
Do you believe him? ^
What about Sheldon. -

Which part don't you believe?
-

I believe you T.Dad!!
pjoseph29 was still unsure if the stronglight cranks and his spider would fit - read his last post.
EDIT - sorry for the ambiguity. lets be friends... got any 63cm frames lying around? ;-) -

Aha! What are your thoughts on this stronglight crank set. Could they work for my bike - in lay mans terms?!

Thanks **proven - **no offence taken, just wondered if I was going to have to get my scrapbook out from my racing days. Biggest frame available will be about 58cm c-c but phasergunalex is selling an absolutely gorgeous Brite of mine which is pretty big, built for Steve Cummins the pro rider who is huge.
pjoseph29, the Stronglight cranks will take the spider and rings from your Williams.
As for a bottom bracket I used to use a Stronglight one (sometimes with TDC cups and usually using Campagnolo balls), although their axle designations can be bewildering, which is what you would use for authenticity but for practicality I'd go for a Shimano UN72 or similar - fit and forget.
The extractor is still the problem: ASM is correct when he says you shouldn't use a TA one. That 0.15mm difference in diameter doesn't sound much but after 30 or 40 years use that could be enough for it to jump the threads and then it's tears and tantrums.
TAs are probably a better bet because the extractor is easier to find and, yes, your rings and spider will still fit and it's still the right period.

Hello! Thanks for your help. I am now the proud owner of some lovely stronglight cranks. Now I have a problem! Obviously I did not pay enough attention to your advice and was wooed by the look of the stronglights without considering that I might have a task on my hands to find a crank puller for them! Where should I look for one?
DOES ANYONE HAVE AN EXTRACTOR FOR THE VINTAGE STRONGLIGHT CRANKS IN THE PIC - THANKS

"If you use classic Stronglight cranks you are a person of exceptional taste. You are also aware of how hard it is to find the proper 23.35mm puller for them"

I've just got a bike with AB77 cranks on. Has anyone got an extractor to get them off? I'm a bit confused about what size extractor I need!!!
