i run my road bike with a longish stem and low stack height with a high seat. i goto the drops on fast flowing roads away from traffic other than that im on the bull horns. most people who try and ride my road bike struggle even those who are taller and longer in the torso than me. it's classed as bad practice to climb on the drops because of the change in hip placement in relation to the pedals. it also increases your weight on the front wheel which under steep climbing situations can cause a fall.
